WHAT IS CHEERLEADING?
Cheerleading is a fast paced, dynamic sport that encompasses gymnastics, tumbling, dance and acrobatics into one sport. It is a sport that is suited to all ages and skill levels. Cheerleading improves coordination, strength, flexibility and fitness. It encourages the girls to learn how to work in a team developing co-operation, trust and responsibility whilst forming new friendships with their team mates. Cheerleading also helps to boost self-esteem and confidence through performance and goal setting.
MLC Cheerleading offers a wide range of competitive and non-competitive squads for girls aged 5 – 18 for beginners all the way through to advanced athletes.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The MLC Cheerleading program aims to develop athlete’s skills in dance, jumps, tumbling and stunting. These skills are incorporated into a 2.5 minute competitive cheerleading routines which are competed at various competitions state wide. Cheerleading routines are choreographed to comply with general competition rules and United States All Star Federation (USASF) Level Rules. The MLC Cheerleading program aims to develop athlete’s individual and team goals whilst creating a fun environment for all athletes.
Cheerleading is a team sport and therefore requires full commitment from all team members.

2019 COMPETITIVE TEAMS
Our competitive teams typically are comprised of 8 – 25 athletes with similar abilities. The coaches put together a 2.5 minute routine that encompasses tumbling, stunting, jumps and dance. This routine is then practised and competed at several competitions throughout June – December. Cheerleading levels range from 1 – 6, with level 6 being the most advanced. The routines are judged base on the level of difficulty, technique, creativity and entertainment.

Tumbling classes for beginner and advanced athletes
